If we want to delete alternate rows from a data set, then the following steps can be performed to make our task easier instead of deleting the alternate rows individually.
For example: We take a small data set of the employees working ABC ltd.
Step 1 : We add a column to the data set (say, control column). In this column, we will write 1 and 0 in alternate columns. For doing this, we will write 1 and 0 in the first two column and then select the first two rows and drag it to the whole data set.
If by default the series gets filled in the rows, then select the autofill option. From the drop down menu, select “copy cells” option.
Step 2 : Activate the filter option.
(HOME tab 🡪 Editing pane 🡪 Sort & Filter option 🡪 filter option).
Step 3 : Select the activated filter option beside the “control column” column. A dialog box will appear. Unselect “1” and click ok. We will see that only the rows which contain the data set in the even numbered rows will appear.
Step 4 : Select the data and delete the rows.
(HOME tab 🡪 Editing pane 🡪 Cell option 🡪 delete option 🡪 delete sheet row option).
Step 5 : Deactivate the filter option.
(HOME tab 🡪 Editing pane 🡪 Sort & Filter option 🡪 filter option).
Step 6 :To delete the new column which was added. Select the contents of the column and select the “Clear contents” option under “clear” option in Editing panes.
