5 MS WORD HACKS TO MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER
October 2, 2019

Tired of Excel files running slow or getting stuck, or need better analytics on your data!!

POWER BI which includes Power Query, PowerPivot and Power View solves all the problem.

Power Query can be used for getting data to Excel, Power Pivot manages the data stored in Data Model and Power View presents the data in reports.

This can be used to systematically transform and consolidate financial data using Microsoft Excel, Power Query, and Power Pivot. Convert your organization’s existing Trial Balance into a meaningful query that can easily be replicated each time you regenerate your data. Construct relationships in the data model, to turn the initial Trial Balance into a Global Income Statement by connecting data across multiple entities.

When importing data into Power Pivot we have two choices, either import it directly into Power Pivot or channel it first through Power Query. Power Query is a tool which enables us to retrieve, extract, and shape data prior to bringing it into Excel (and/or into the PowerPivot data model).

PowerPivot extends the capabilities of Excel by allowing the import of larger data, i.e. more than 10 lakh data sets from various sources and the creation of more sophisticated data models. Using Power Pivot we can create visualizations in Excel and Power View. Excel allows for the Pivot Tables that we all know, while Power View is an explorer that shows data on interactive dashboards.

INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT POWER BI

  • Broad Database Availability (Excel, Access, Adobe Analytics, SQL Server, Azure, Google Analytics, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Vertica, Teradata, Spark)
  • Clean and automate data cleaning process
  • No memory and speed constraints
  • It’s free and is already built into excel
  • This is linked to excel, so if you are developing reports for your organisation using excel this can be of great help to you.
